This is a page from one of my art journals.
Acrylic on paper. I painted the page black, and then applied red with plastic wrap to see what kind of effect I would get.
I use old books or planners for art journalling, in order to save money. Art journalling is for practice, where I try out new techniques and media. This journal is a spiral planner. These are my favorite for journalling, as I can separate the pages easily. The pages are also thick and sturdy, so they can take a lot of paint and texture.
I like to paint in my journals so I don’t waste canvases with practicing. I always have multiple projects going on, in various stages of drying. I would do more, but I am limited by a small space. I would someday like to try a larger project.

Interesting and unique effect! Is there a relationship between the colors you choose, black and red, with your mood when you paint this?
