Me, too I’m a big fan of Наrukі Мurаkаmі. He’s amazing
I would love to be able to write in english but I´m not fluent enough to do that. Great article, made me think. Thank you.
My home language, (Afrikaans) is nothing remotely like English at all but the English language is so widespread, I mean, practically every international movie is in English, and millions of bestselling books too, I just became more and more determined to master the language. Then, no sooner done, I had to start writing Americanized English. I did so, since I wanted to share my stuff with American folk and I just knew, If I spoke of a vibrant “colour”, first the spell checker would fly down my throat then some of my U.S. readers would hasten to tell me to get my stuff right, since the word is color. There are a host of words and “Americanisms” which I just had to “wrangle” up. Alexandre, I would write my piece in the best way I could then reach for Google translator, (which by the way, has vastly improved) . If I can in any way help, just feel free to let me know. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Hello Andre, thank you for your words.
They make sense, we have to start somewhere.
I will try.
writing for me is a past time that helps me to unwind my mind around things
that’s going on in my life not that I like putting my life online to others to read
cause I really have a boring life, where I don’t go anywhere to talk about, I don’t
do anything but sit at my desk all day long working online with the sites I’m on.
But as far as writing it helps me to relax & interact with others on their doings in life.
WOW! Easy money stop doing it to yourself. there simply is no one alive having a boring life, why, I’ll bet you could rustle up a dozen things you do that would utterly excite another reader, I’m not kidding! Haven’t you ever wrote a piece, as a kid or even as an adult that readers just LOVED? Sure you did!!! Now, the trick is this, and yes, it is a definite trick. Get that piece in front of you, read it a few times, you might feel tempted to change it a bit, here n there… DON’T touch it. That is what people loved, now, the trick I promised, Using the exact style, write the extended version, if it is fiction, write about those characters and what happened after.
If its non fiction, excellent! find out what developments took place since then, do so by just lightly touching on the original topic. Please, dear friend just ask, any of the fine writers here at Virily.com via the “compliments” section about it,ask me. None of us started off knowing everything. Some, like me, have never learned to write at all! Simply because every time I write something new, I’m still learning. Go girl, just do it. I once wrote a very romantic piece, (my friends thought so anyhow) well I’m writing a true story which I have saved for 34 years and remembered the piece, the heroine is a woman called Caroline, while escaping from war torn Mozambique, and illegally crossing the border into South Africa one dark night in 1972, amid a raging gun battle between President Samora Machel’s government troops and a rebel faction called Renamo, she is wounded by a rebel firing at pointblank range, one bullet grazing her left temple and another hitting her right shoulder, she collapses and is instantly separated from her husband Carlos and their two toddlers, Juan and Nicky. She arrives safely on the other side and thinks about Carlos, and the last time she saw him 3 nights ago, “A slow, languid smile crosses my features, one that makes my body flush and ache for Carlos. I miss his quiet reassurance right now. A memory flashes through my mind, of the last time we made love, which had somehow grown more frenzied, more instinctive, as our years together was bringing us even closer than before. It is a far cry, from the slow, sensuous control he had used with me when we were young, how I miss him, right now.”
“Haven’t you ever wrote a piece, as a kid or even as an adult that readers just LOVED”
no I haven’t, I didn’t start writing ANYTHING till I got online & got on bubblews is how
I got started. interesting story you have there, may I can come up with a story or 2.
Writing is a craft that we must practice over and over. I enjoy writing in French first and then translate it into English. It adds up when you think of how much I practice. Also, French being such a colorful and extra long language (when it comes to writing in French it can be a for example a page for French and half a page for the English translation) I feel that practice makes perfect.
I envy your knowledge of the language of love, French. No other language sounds as sensual.
I agree with you Andre. Writing, in whatever form we use, declutters our minds and our thoughts. I have found it beneficial in the tragedies I have endured in my life. It is therapeutic.
My spirit soars with words such as yours, thank you so much my friend. Is this not why writers sit in isolation for hours on end, at times, foregoing some or other life event, hoping that what you have written about, has brightened up someones day. Thank you Carol for reading and commenting.
And I thank you for your post and perspective Andre.
