Here are some old houses of Auckland. Many people here love them very much. They are much nicer when they are done up with new timber with a fresh coat of paint and they have been there for generations of people living in them. People took time to create masterpieces with beautiful verandas and stained glass windows.
Always in Auckland central, rock walls with rich dark volcanic soil and moss. There were small brown lizards or skinks that went with them and moss. Growing through the rocks were bright and colourful nasturtiums.
This house is in Grey St Onehunga. You see it's 2 storey with a watch tower on top.
Now this is of great historical significance. In the early days ships came in and out of the Manukau harbour. There were flat bottomed boats that came and went to several ports in the Manukau Harbour.
As a ship came in the men in these towers signalled that the ship was arriving they had a definite code to convey messages.
