This blog reminds of how a German Shepherd puppy who almost was put to sleep since she had a birth defect of not having all of teeth inside of her mouth which disqualified her from working with the Washington D C K 9 Unit.
However this story does have a happy ending since Gene Ryan who is a firefighter with the Washington D C Fire Department decided to take Kylie who is the female German Shepherd who was nearly put to sleep save her by taking her under his wing to see if he can find another line of work.
Gene took Kylie to have medical test run on her by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to see if she could pass their test to work in another capacity withing the Washington D C public services.
After Kylie passed her physical exam by officials at FEMA, Kylie qualified to work with the Washington D C Fire Department as a cadaver dog.
Kylie’s body of work is to locate the remains of missing persons that have been reported missing in the D C area and surrounding areas.
Gene who is the handler of Kylie is happy that his pet German Shepherd will be working with as well as his colleagues in solving crimes for many years to come.
Yes even dogs are given a second chance to work with law enforcement officials and the firefighters around the world.
A wonderful story that should give us the courage that there is always a chance
A true story of getting a second chance at life as an assistant to humans.
Love these animal stories, great to see this pup got a 2nd chance and a chance to serve people.
At least one person decided to give the puppy a chance to work in another with the investigators.
