I use to feel much more tired during Summer than Winter, I thought it was only me but recently I read an article about it and it seems it is usual to the majority of people. Most people feel more sleepy after being exposed to the sun, whether on the street or after a day at the beach – especially when they are not used to it.
But it seems there are 4 reasons for this:
Dehydration – Even if you do not make great physical efforts, the rise of the temperature will cause it to transpire more and the body will lose fluid and salt.
Alcohol consumption – The summer days invite you to go out and socialize more, and it is common to register a higher consumption of alcohol – especially if you are on vacation. Alcohol causes fatigue, especially if you do not drink enough water.
Highest activity – Ask yourself how is your routine during the months of October and April? Most individuals do little more than go to work, go home and watch television for hours before going to bed – and so on. Instead, in the summer the possibilities are endless and the good weather invites us to practice sports, go to concerts, to the beach, to dine outside … that is, no wonder we feel exhausted.
Our body works harder – Exposure to the sun causes various changes in the body. Tanning, increases vitamin D levels, improves mood and many others. All these changes impact deeply on the human body, which tries desperately to regulate its base temperature and hence the tiredness it feels.

Will be held by the 4th – I’m more tired in summer, but much less active
The heat can definitely drain your system, especially if you are not hydrated.
I have seasonal low blood pressure, but drinking water (avoid being dehydrated) helps with that too. 🙂
Interesting posting … so I prefer a little cooler weather
I think I can bear to live in a hot weather.
I also prefer summer over winter.
But then, I really cannot live in winter. Since I am from a tropical island, I cannot endure it. I had tried twice and it wasn’t really for me.
Yes, I think a lot of people tend to feel more tired in the summer time. I don’t think the hot weather helps. Plus, it’s harder to sleep at night when it’s so hot and humid. We have had an exceptionally hot summer this year in England. Thankfully now Autumn is here it’s cooled down.
Summer was quite hot here in Portugal too and it was difficult to sleep at night and that make us more tired during the day.
