This is a closeup of one of the iris clumps. A few stunted iris leaves can be seen next to the building but there are so many dead leaves that it is hard to see that under all of this, there were more irises struggling to make it up through the tangle. Each of these clumps measured about four feet by three and a half feet by two and a half feet deep. It was all an interconnected mesh of roots.

They did. Last year, they bloomed heavily once they were separated and replanted. I have more irises to do this year and those are white.
