I have a black tulip in my garden. It is called Queen of the Night. It is not actually black but more of a deep dark burgundy color. Still a beautiful bloom. I always love seeing it bloom in my garden. For dark drama in the garden, you can’t beat this almost black tulip, with blooms in shades of deep velvety purple. Tall, strong and reliable, Queen of the Night partners well with light pinks, bold oranges and creamy whites.

Fascinating creature! It looks like she wants to say something.
Hello world is what she is trying to say. 🙂
Also looking forward to see the photos, when it opens!
Thanks, I hope to see it soon, but we are having freezing weather again so we will see.
OK thanks Carol, there is no problem, it’s only a matter of time!
Yes it has opened I will post soon!
A lot of interesting facts I found about it and I want to share them with you. The black tulip has a curious story. They say it was selected after dark people from the Dutch city of Harlem declared a 10,000 Gulden prize for the one who created a black specimen.
The Tulip has a special mission – to show the world that black is just as admirable as other colors and to become a symbol of beauty in blacks. And that’s the truth. It has proven over the years that its beauty is “The King of the Night”.
Wow that is even more cool information about my favorite tulip. Thank you for researching and sharing!
I try to help with whatever I can
Very interesting lacho59. This makes me more proud of my skin color!
I can’t wait to see your photos when it opens completely! I love tulips and for some reason they always make me think of my childhood.
I am waiting. We had a freeze last night, I hope it survived.
As you know, I’ve only ever seen a black or other tulip from pictures
Yes I know, this is my favorite one of all Albert.
After seeing this post and before commenting, once again I searched on google to see the beauty of the black tulip, and it’s really fascinating indeed. I then understand why it’s your favorite!
Absolutely, I also researched it before I got it a few years ago. Very unique beauty.
Totally agree… Great to have it, Carol
I will post more photos as this tulip opens.
