I read it with interest because where I am (Thailand), there are sparrows, and because of my partner’s granddaughter throwing cooked rice around, there are even more in the garden…but I’ve noticed sparrows are largely absent in England and I sought an explanation. Your article mentions seed-eating and bills. Of course, in my opinion, sparrows have gone from England because of laws, hedgerow-loss, cleanliness, and other environment-changers. Sparrows are lovely, little birds, were a part of my childhood in England, now seem lost forever over there!
