In November 1962 Rhythm of the Rain was performed by The Cascades. The song was written by band member John Claude Gummoe. This song rose to number 3 on the US pop chart on March 9th, 1963. They spent 2 weeks at number 1 on the Easy Listening chart.
The lyrics are sung by a man who wishes the rain would stop falling and reminding him of the error of his ways, and to let him cry alone, as his lover has left him.
