I have an issue with sign makers especially now that the tarpaulin streamers are cheap and popular. I have been seeing many posters and billboards with wrong spelling or wrong grammar that obviously can be attributed to the so called typographical error. In other words, it is just a mistake of the sign maker. Now that almost everything passes by the computer, checking for the correctness of the text is easy. You can even send the text to someone for the approval. But they don’t do that. It is like they make the sign haphazardly as if they are always in a hurry.
Call me a grammar police or spelling sentinel but I always prefer a sign, whether big or small, formal or informal, to be accurately correct in form. Correct spelling and correct grammar – is that hard to do?
