Here’s my musical tribute to Prince that I wrote/recorded for the RPM Challenge a few years ago. Growing up, Prince was a staple on the local radio stations. Plus, his videos were instrumental to the growth of MTV. After his death, I read several articles about the artist formerly known as Prince. In high school, he would come to school early and camp out in the music classroom, writing songs, practicing, etc. Aside from the rock star persona, he truly was one of the best guitar players ever according to his peers. I don’t know that the song I wrote does him justice, but it was fun to write. Give it a listen if you have the time.
Verse 1 – Your music rained down from violet clouds. Your love spread out as it hit the ground. Red corvettes and raspberry berets filled our hearts with the beats you slaved.
Verse 2 – Your music rained down from violet clouds. Your spirit called out with every sound. The tears of the doves mix with ours. Feeding the beauty of the showers.
Verse 3 – Your music rained down from violet clouds. Pushing the limits for every crowd. Your music left us all feeling fine. We’ll always party like ninety-nine.
Chorus –
Let it fall from the sky.
Let it rain down my face.
Let me drink it all in and be one with this place.
Let it fall from the sky.
Push away all the fear.
Though the clouds disappeared, the sunlight brought no cheer.
Let it fall. Let it fall. Let it fall.
Let it fall. Let it fall. Let it fall.
Great job Chris. I was a Prince fan. Did not know this about him.
I loved it, perfect sharing.
Wow – that is very impressive.
