In the late Middle Ages, from the 12th to the 16th centuries, Croatia was part of the Hungarian-Croatian Kingdom. Two states attached to the person of one ruler in a personal union changed several dynasties headed to the very downfall of the state with the advent of the Ottomans. This period is marked by the two major battles with Ottomans – Krbavsko and Mohacs battle.
