After working for two hours trying to get a post up, I decided to let it go and post it “warts and all”. My Mom used this term a lot to teach us about being authentic and genuine. Today I was trying to finish a post and it just wasn’t working. So I posted it “warts and all”.
Then I began to wonder where the term came from. There are a few choices, the one that felt most creidible for me was the one about Oliver Cromwell’s instructions to the painter Sir Peter Lely, when commissioning a portrait. the portrait should be authentic.
