Let’s keep working on our communication skills. There is always room for growth and improvement. The third skill is empathy. Empathy has been described as “understanding how another feels and respecting that position.
For example, you don’t have to agree with someone’s bias to so empathy. “I understand how you could feel that way.” is a statement that shows empathy without agreement. Respect is simply remembering that people are all human and you don’t know their heart. You treat them with respect, simply because they are human. You can be respectful and still disagree. Very few people understand and can live the theme “live and let be”. My Mom has it mastered.
So have some compassion and empathy when communicating with those people you work with, are friends with or have an interest in being civil.
