Tulsi is a plant that Hindus in India worship Every household will have a plant in their yard planted in a typical pot that has a stand.
Every day puja is performed. Tulsi has severeal health properties. We have tulsi in our garden. It multiplies from seeds perhaps the birds place them there as my whole garden has tulsi. Whenever a recipe demands Basil I replace it with tulsi.
