Tribal Burials

Many people seemed to be confused by and with tribal burials. Yes, they are very different than other burials and yes some places they are still honored and used. Some indigenous families have never fully embraced the US Government and their system.

Many people who use the traditional burial have their records sealed as part of the privacy and ritual. For example, a burial might be held on a reservation and if one searched for information of that person they would find no record of anything but their past life. The issue of a death certificate is not created or needed in some areas and tribes as they believe the spirit lives forever.

Some are trying to change the laws to force them to be made public. It will probably happen one day. Everything that was once sacred seems to change over time.
