Tis the season of dragon fruits

The dragon fruit is a variety of cactus that may be similar to the prickly pear cactus. The vine is a cactus type that bears flowers and later become fruits. On the first time I saw a dragon fruit, I was amused but I did not buy until my brother-in-law said that it tasted like kiwi. Okay, I bought one to sample it. Actually it tasted better than kiwi.

Now that it is rainy season the dragon vine has lots of flowers and fruit. When the fruit turns red that means it is ready for harvest. In the picture are the fruits that I will be harvesting today.

  1. Lovely photo, Alex! My children and I love dragon fruit, but there is no market here where we can purchase them. We have to drive for a couple of hours to get to the international store in order to get them. We do, however, have passion fruit that grows wild here 🙂
