The purple corn was introduced here some 5 to 10 years ago, I am not really sure because I have not noticed. It was only last year when I sampled the purple corn. After boiling I never expected that it was so sweet. Compared to the native white corn and to the imported yellow corn, the purple corn is superior.
It was actually not purple but there are some purple kernels so the vendors here called it purple corn. I guess it is a hybrid of our native white corn and the American Indian maize. Nice mixture of the new variety.

I have never seen or tried corn with purple kernels. I don’t think we can get this kind here in the US,
USA… we only get one or two kinds. So sad… Probably half as good for you too. I like its looks! I would definitely try it.
