The wish tree is not popular in our culture that very few know about it. I was lucky to have been told about it so I am sharing the knowledge here.
A tree should be old like 20 years and it has a hollow part like what you see in the picture. That hollow part is the abode of the spirit that inhabits the tree. You can make your wish on the tree but do not expect it to come true. But usually minor wishes are granted especially wishes that are related to finances.

I have never heard of a wish tree. I have heard of throwing coins in a fountain and making a wish.
