A couple Rou and Jeff were invited to carry out this experiment whereby they cannot use their phones during dinner time for 7 straight days!
The results of their experiment is shown in the chart above …
Quick summary:
Day 1, they spent 42 minutes to finish their dinner out of which, they interacted for 30 minutes (with Jeff telling lame jokes). The couple had a great time. They had 2 small arguments that didn’t do much damage.
As you can see from the chart, their dinner time kept deceasing overtime (from 42 minutes to only 12 minutes) and their interactions dropped (from 30 minutes to 3 minutes)… the number of arguments increased and then finally they started to play avoidance.
They won’t interact nor look at each other much, fearing of having bad conversations or arguing.
The psychological expert on the show stated that these are “withdrawal symptoms”. The couple ate faster so they can get to use their phone faster. The expert also mentioned that phone addiction is as bad/serious as drug addiction and the effect on the brain is the same!

In general, I do not use the phone continuously. There is a case when I need it.
I see … I use a little too much phone …
but I still talk with my family face to face …
I think gaming have brought my mum and I closer … (My mum loves games!)
We cannot blame technology. The users should put the phones down and talk face to face when the opportunity arises.
Yes… I agree …
Set aside time for face to face interactions or activities …
my family still values this despite using messaging app a lot!
