The government allowed the importation of rice to ease the shortage a few months ago. Indeed the shortage is gone. But the negative effect is the higher prices of rice in the market. Traders say they buy high so they sell high. What can the buyers do but buy even at high prices.

We don’t have such case with rice, but it happened with chicken, eggs, even vegetables due to the shortage.
