PSP battery modding… failed!

I’ve been reading and watching many videos about modding PSP battery. I’ve a working PSP at home, but the battery is faulty.

I thought well, if I could open it up and replace the battery pack with a larger capacity one, I could not only “fix” the battery but also use it for longer on battery.

Happily, I took the battery apart. Then I took an old powerbank which power is not enough to satisfy my hungry phone but will work well with my PSP (I guess since its twice the capacity of the current battery). I booked my mom to help me do the soldering (since I’ve zero experience with that)

Everything done, taken apart! Yeay! Then I temperary hooked up the wires (B- to B-, B+ to B+) to test. The Orange charging light was on, Yeay! But then I realised that battery power is still 0% and the status of the battery is not showing “charging” (as shown on the PSP) … when I take the DC plug out, the PSP shut down immediately (due to no power!)

I tried everything, and was sure that the charging port is working (well the PSP works on DC), the battery pack is holding charge (tested before I open it and also after the temporary hook up)…

In the end I believe its the battery circuit board that is most probably faulty (and maybe faulty in the first place…haiz) The board is extremely important in this mod… so yeah, that ends everything :/

My first try on modding… failed :/
