Potte’rs Field situated in New York on Hart Island is meant for burying the poor and unclaimed bodies. It was also used during epidemics such as the Spanish Flu, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Yellow Fever,
It has once again come to ‘life’ burying victims of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The relatives of victims are not happy as they are not paupers. It is a tragedy however that these victims cannot be given a proper burial for fear of contagion.
At the end of the day a question arises. Is that pomp and glory required to bury the dead?

People deserve to know where their loved ones are buried. I do not believe that all people dying now are caused by Covid-19. No longer are people reporting deaths such as car accidents, heart attacks or cancer.
When individuals do not have control over their dead loved one’s bodies it is the saddest situation.
It is time to ask God for forgiveness and atone for our sins
When so much importance is given to how a burial is conducted with huge crowds this situation makes us think.
Even in West Africa during the Ebola outbreak, the dead were infected in mass graves. I think it doesn’t feel right to an individual to bury their loved ones in unexpected ways because they appear as living somehow.
Here in India one case is reported of an infection coming from the dead. The victim was given a proper burial.
I kind of mixed things in my first sentence. So it means one can be infected when they touch a COVID-19 infected dead body. It sounds like Ebola.
