Plants in the frontage of the house

Due to lack of space in our home I have planted some bananas in the frontage of our house. The sidewalk was not in use so I decided to make use of it.  Some say that we should not use the sidewalk for our own purposes and I agree.

When the banana plants bore fruit and harvested, I would give some to the neighbors. That way, no one would complain that I am using the sidewalk since they also benefit from the banana plants.
