It is not to be confused with Gulab Jamun the main ingredient of which is mawa or khoya. Pantua is made from chhana, maida, semolina, ghee, and sugar The prcedure is the same but this tastes different from Gulab Jamun something that is not commonly available.
The balls are spongy and soaked in sugar syrup as is done for Gulab Jamun They are easy to make and delicious to eat.
