We call it native spinach but it is actually different from spinach. I learned of the native spinach when I was in grade school. My mother would pick the leaves to include in the boiled beef for our meal. When I moved to our own home I was lucky to find the presence of the native spinach. It is easy to grow and easy to multiply.
When there is no food a neighbor would ask for the native spinach that they mix with a small can of sardines. They said that it is a healthy meal for them. With the spinach maybe I have to agree.

I love spinach and eat it when I can get it. If raw I use it in soups and salad and steam it if I cannot get fresh I get canned.
