I look at the wandering pictures post and realize I take and keep very few pictures. I wonder through reading and writing. I was curious about elephants and their memories. I was reading and learning. I got the basic answer and wrote about it. However, I came across the term imprinting. I was not really familiar with the term.
So I went wandering through resources to learn what I felt was missing. I learned that in most cases when people talk about imprinting it is in relationship to animals. Imprinting is a form of animal learning that occurs at a very specific stage in that animal’s life. Most of the early research was focused on birds. Filial imprinting is an easy way to understand this form of learning. Watch a mother duck and see how they follow and mimic everything the mother does. Imprinting is taking place.
So that makes me wonder…
