My daily picture – Shepherd with sheep in the mountains

Being a shepherd is not an easy job. That means staying with the sheep in the mountains for three months a year. They have no comfort there. They wash in the river and cook over a wood fire.

As in ancient times, the herds climb the mountain in May, when spring comes. In the autumn, at the beginning of September, the shepherds lower the herds and stay with them until the end of October, close to the village.When winter comes, the shepherds return the sheep to the owners and are free until next spring!
