Morning Routines

Do you plan your morning?  Experts have been touting the idea of a morning routine forever. Why? Because it works and it truly does make a difference for the rest of the day. Everyone does need to use the same routine, in fact,  you probably shouldn’t rely on someone to develop your morning routine.

You probably know your own body clock. It is best to go with what works for you naturally if you can.  Most experts say between 6 to 8 hours for adults is still a good amount of uninterupted sleep. Plan your bed time and get up time accordingly.

Some kind of stretch or exercise seems to be the next most important and then eating something within the first hour. That doesn’t seem like much of a routine, and if you don’t have one something like this is a great way to start. You can add more great habits in the future.

  1. When I was employed, and to a lesser extent when taking care of elderly loved ones I had to have a schedule. The first thing I did when I became “free” was unshackling myself from it. The plan I have on my calendar now is NOT to plan, but to enjoy some spontaneity. I sleep when I want to, eat what and when I want to, make plans when and if the mood strikes me. I pretty much naturally awaken after 8 hours of sleep, whether I went to bed at midnight or at 4 am, so on that we are in agreement.
