For the last day of this Bundesliga season, all nine games will be played at 9:30 PM EST. The reason that all games are played at the same time is that money is doled out to teams based upon where they place in the standings. Playing all 9 games at the same time prevents foul play. Here is a look at the schedule.
Hoffenheim at Borussia Dortmund (UniMas).
Mainz 05 at Bayer Leverkusen.
Hertha Berlin at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Bayern Munich at VfL Wolfsburg.
Paderborn at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Koln at Werder Bremen.
Schalke 04 at SC Freiburg.
Red Bull Leipzig at Augsburg.
Fortuna Dusseldorf at Union Berlin.
Four of the matches have the most importance in regards to the standings. Fourth place in the Bundesliga is the final opening qualifying spot for the Champions League. Borussia Monchengladbach is two points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen. If Monchengladbach either ties or wins at home against Hertha Berlin, then Borussia Monchengladbach would advance to the Champions League. If Monchengladbach loses and if Bayer Leverkusen wins at home against Mainz 05, then Leverkusen secures the final spot. The roster of the team that ends up in 5th place will end up being raided by bigger clubs because they can offer Champions League play next season.
The other spot on the line is 16th place. Fortuna Dusseldorf is two points ahead of Werder Bremen. If Fortuna Dusseldorf ties or wins at Union Berlin, then Dusseldorf would qualify for the relegation playoff while Bremen would be outright relegated. If Dusseldorf loses and Werder Bremen wins at home against Koln, then Bremen would qualify for the relegation playoff with Dusseldorf being outright relegated.
