Jamrud is a small but historic town of Khayber Pakhtunkhawa, Pakistan. It is located just 17 kilometer on the western side of Peshawar city. Jamrud is a gateway to Khayber Pass which connect Peshawar with Afghanistan.
Jamrud remained a very important town in past. It was the only route of trade between central and south Asia.
The famous battle between Durrani Empire and Sikh Empire was took place in Jamrud where Sikh Emperor Raja Hari Singh was killed by Durrani’s army. It was an important town during the British Raj too, and British Governor established a military cantonment in this town.
