Curing the soil for fungus

Solarization is the drying of  soil under the hot sun in order to kill harmful organisms. Fungus is the main enemy of tomatoes and strawberry that makes the farmer wonder sometimes why their plants are dying even if the irrigation was ample. When the fungus attacks, the plants would show an appearance that it is drying so the plant would be given more water which does not remedy the ailment of the dying plant.

Solarization was discovered to kill the fungus by the hot ray of the sun especially during the high noon. The process is best to apply for small garden since you can treat the soil little by little. With the potted plants, it is definitely easier since the soil can be scattered on a plastic sheet or even on a big carton for drying. After 2 days, the soil is cured and ready for planting again.
