I fondly remember having a cake on my birthday as a child even though I didn’t have fancy presents. My aunt was an excellent cake decorator and I recall those delicious cakes she made with beautiful and colorful icing. When she wasn’t available to make me a cake, my mom would do the honors. I always had a birthday cake on my birthday.
A birthday cake was cherished more than any present I ever received. As an adult, I have always associated a birthday cake with love and joy and all my kids have had a birthday cakes every year without fail. Some I bought but most of them were home made.
My kids are grown up now but they still get a home made birthday cake every birthday. I know that if I stop, they would miss it regardless of their age. I too still enjoy getting a birthday cake on my birthday.
