AN EARLY RIPENING PLUM- APRICOT

Whether apricots ripen earlier than most other fruits, I discovered that the assumption is built into the name. In early English, the spelling was abrecock, going back through Portuguese and Latin to the name, prunum praecoquum, meaning, an early ripening plum.
