The New Mexico Bowl will be played on Saturday between the Central Michigan Chippewas (8-5) vs the San Diego State Aztecs (9-3) in Albuquerque, NM. CMU almost won the MAC title, but lost to Miami, OH 31-26 a couple of weeks ago. However, the Chippewas improved this year under new head coach Jim McElwain, who formerly coached at Colorado State and Florida.
His Mountain West coaching experience will help against MWC member San Diego State, which boasts one of the best defenses in college football this season. Their defense is so dominant that the most any team scored against the Aztecs this season was 23 points. Only two teams scored more than 20 points against SDSU for the entire season.
The best thing about the New Mexico Bowl is the name of the stadium. This bowl game will be played at Dreamstyle Stadium.

You know, there is just something about those Michigan teams like central Michigan and Eastern Michigan that I somewhat like, but in this match up I am going to have to go with San Diego. This would actually be one that I would consider watching.
I will watch some of this game solely because of San Diego State’s defense and to see what type of plays McElwain will set up to run against it.
