Thunder Hole at Acadia National Park

The first stop in Acadia National Park in Maine was “Thunder Bay” with its “Thunder Hole“. These were huge granite cliffs and rocks along the shoreline and there were stairs going down the side to the “hole” in the rocks below. Here the saltwater waves would come in and get caught in the crevice and blow upwards making a thunder sound.  It was too calm out on this day to cause this sound.
