Life passes us by in the blink of an eye, and in the past few years I have realized how easy it is to walk right past what is right in front of you. We see without really seeing, only noticing what grabs our attention for fleeting moments.
For the past few years one of my goals has been to be more present in the moment. To notice what is going on in the world around me, truly looking instead of just seeing. To learn from others and to see the world through their eyes. To take a moment and just exist, and reflect on the amazing phenomenon of life.
I took this photo in one of those moments, when I was completely immersed in the present. Noticing the ocean breeze, the paint on the side of the building, the symmetry between nature and construction. I heard the gulls shouting and the waves crashing against the rocks below. I heard the wind sway through the leaves on the trees, and I heard the mixing in of city life.
Take a moment to be truly present. You’ll find that it can heal in times of overwhelm, or remind us of our true purpose.
Definitely! Very well-expressed piece. I am working on that as well: mindfulness, making the most of the present moment.
