Let me introduce you the beautiful town of Montreux, a Swiss town hardly anyone heared of. It is located in the southwestern part of the country, by the Lake Geneva or just as well known as Lac Leman. It has only about 27.000 inhabitants which makes it a quiet place for a weekend getaway, away from the busy and noicy cities.
This town is famous for the Jazz festival, held every July. Therefore the town gets busy during the summer days when people all over the world pay a fortune to come and visit it so they can enjoy the festival. It lasts one week and is one of the most expensive events in Switzerland.
If you consider yourself a nature lover, if you love visiting calm places rather than busy metropolies, if the mountains and the fresh air is something you appreciate then welcome to the best place in Europe to meet all this.
Walking by the Geneva Lake admireing its view and the mountains that surround it was one of my favourite activities every day. There’s a wonderful Chateu de Chillon island castle with rampals which entrance costs only a few euros and it’s worth it. There are formal halls inside, as well as a chapel with 14th-century murals which are the most outstanding part of it.
If you are a type of person that enjoys reading outdoor, grab your book and go by the lake. There is no better place on Earth to do this! You can go for jogging or just sit there and breath the tranquility that this town offers. Or you can just sit on the big rocks by the lake and meditate about the life. I’ve never seen more suitable place for such a morning activities.
An afternoon trip on the mountain is something you just can not miss! The nearest mountain Caux has the most breathtaking views you’ll ever see! It is highly recommendable for people who enjoy photography. The biggest advantage of visiting it is definitely the fresh air!
One last but not least reason to visit Montreux is if you want to practice your French. The town is located in the French part of Switzerland so if you need practicing it or even learn it, no doubts, Montreux is the best place for it.
These photos of Montreux have that certain “Je ne sais quoi”- I love them! Another excellent travel post Elena 🙂
It’s so nice to know that someone appreciates my work! Thanks a million!!! ? This town is a little Heaven on Earth!
