Cologne Cathedral at night

These shots were taken during an overnight stopover on the way to Berlin. The railway station and our hotel were very close to the famous Cologne Cathedral, so I took these shots in the evening of our arrival and early morning before our train left for Berlin.

    • This was the first time I had seen the Cathedral since about 1969, when I went there while still at school. My memory was of a patched-up building – with repairs having been done quite hurriedly after bomb damage during World War II. As these photos show, there is still work being done, but it looks as though the initial repairs have had a lot of attention during the 50 years since my last visit.

      It would have been good to see it in daylight, but we had a train to catch!
