Capitol Complex in Chandigarh (India) has been declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This ended the ten years long wait for the citizens of Chandigarh who were eagerly looking forward to inclusion of Capitol Complex in World heritage sites. This is a proud moment for the city. The decision to this effect was announced on 17th July and this is being seen as a great achievement for city administration. Administration officials hope that this announcement will bring the city on the world map and give a desired boost to tourism.

Capitol Complex is located in sector one of Chandigarh and has been designed by renowned French Architect Le Corbusier. Spread over an area of 100 acres, the complex houses three buildings- Legislative assembly, secretariat and high court. The complex is beautifully designed and the architecture is worth a view.

Now with the Capitol Complex getting the heritage status, the number of tourists on a daily basis have seen a sudden hike. The complex is a peaceful area which is generally not very crowded. Guided tours are provided and the best part is that one gets to see the assemble hall from inside which is an awesome experience.
