Technology wander…

Day 2: quote challenge – first off I challenge the exceptional food blogger Ellie!

My quote for today: Poet’s who read their poems out loud, have other nasty habits as well.” Sandler Boggs.

The next big thing, it isn’t something that everyone chases. I know, for many years I chased the next great OS for the Pocket PC phone. I was willing to put up with instability and rebuilding because at that time being up-to-date with the cool new features. Now, I rely on my cellular phone. I talk on calls, and people call me frequently so not having my cellular phone available is a bad thing. I no longer take the risk of instability.  My phone is always with me, and it is always connected. Both of those functions preclude me allowing the old days of upgrades and rebuilding on a monthly basis to disappear.

It is something that happens. I have two PC’s that are part of the Microsoft Windows insider program. They are frequently updated, and I am fine with that. I always update my iPad and iPhone to the latest iOS release. I do, however, have a work PC that I do not upgrade until the company says it is time to upgrade. Frankly, I would prefer to be on Office 2016 at work but will wait until January when we upgrade.

I do know that currently, the upgrade to iOS 11 has cost me one technology. It is one that I enjoy, but it is one that is more critical during boating season. Beartooth, the range extender for cellular connectivity doesn’t’ work with iOS 11. Neither does Fing, but I can run both of these on an Android device in the short one. I only need Beartooth during boating season, so I have a couple of months to get that issue resolved.

Stability is not something I focused on in the past. I have to say honestly that it is now!
