After a disappointing 46-7 homecoming loss against the Purdue Boilermakers, I still have hope that the Illinois Fighting Illini can make it to a bowl game. In my previous writing, I shared the history and my predictions of the Fighting Illini versus Boilermakers game, which the game started and ended ugly for the Fighting Illini. They just flat out did not show up which is one thing that I, and others as fans have to prepare for going into a Fighting Illini game.

The Fighting Illini did have to the tools to defeat the Boilermakers, but what ever plan they had in preparation failed miserably. I would assume that they had planned to utilize the same blueprint that they used in previous games, which blueprints are studied by teams. In my honest opinion, teams are not good by how many wins the have, they are good by how they bounce back from adversity, which is what the Fighting Illini has a problem with doing.
To date, one of the best Fighting Illini games was against the South Florida Bulls because they showcase heart in it despite them still losing. The game did give me, as a Fighting Illini faithful hope that change is happening, but little did I know that my hope would be crushed within minutes of the Boilermakers game.
As for this Saturday’s match up against the Wisconsin Badgers, I highly doubt that I will watch let alone track it on ESPN because it has potential to be ugly. The Badgers are the 95% favorites to win, plus I’m sure that they will also be fueled to dominate after a crushing loss to the Michigan Wolverines.
Out of what is left on the Fighting Illini schedule this season, I would hope that they could at least compete against the Minnesota Gophers or the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

those Illini still have some fight in them
All I one as a fan is just to see them with 6 wins before the season ends
All I want as a fan is just to see them with 6 wins before the season ends. Right now they have just 3
how many games are left? is this feasible?
I have shared the schedule below ; )
There is actually 5 more games left
so it is possible but tight
Yup definitely still possible
not much room for error, though- they can only lose once for every two wins
They just lost against Maryland yesterday. I did not care to watch it entirely, and probably will not write about it.
so they kinda need to win all their other games but one now?
I would give them 2 wins out of the 4 games left. Those wins could be possibly against Minnesota, and Nebraska, but I wouldn’t bet my hard earned money on it.
doesn’t that leave them one shy?
Two more wins possibly, and two losses! But who knows they may just lose all four left
I expect you can predict with a fair level of accuracy how they will perform in the last four games, if you can extrapolate their performance from the rest of the season…
As an avid watcher, I’m pretty good at predicting. With the way that they’ve been playing, I wouldn’t count on them winning, plus they just lost a defense coordinator. The defense coordinator quit because everyone was so disappointed in the performance. So with that being said, they will most likely lose all 4 games left. I will write about them if they win 1 of the next 4 games.
there’s always next season
Yes, that is true. However I’m not getting any younger. : ) Tired of these guys sucking every season.
think of the red sox fans…
The Red Sox in most definitely the Chicago Cubs. I will probably be dead once the Chicago Cubs win another World Series.
I try not to worry about things that I have no control over
That is not very easy for die hard sports fans : )
I don’t know if it is easy for anyone, but it is a better way of life
If you haven’t experienced then it is best that you have not. I compare it to being invested in someone you know that plays a sport like your child or a close family member.
It wouldn’t make a difference to me, and I only worry about my performance in areas in which I can improve…
Excellent post … again a detailed review
Thank you, Vidocka for dropping in
