At this moment, Angela Lee is the best fighter at the atomweight (105 lb) division. However, her belt was on the line Saturday evening at the ONE: Century event in Tokyo, Japan against Xiong Jing Nan. Xiong Jing Nan is the current ONE strawweight (115 lb) champion. In March, Lee moved up ten pounds in an attempt to become a double champ, but Xiong secured a TKO in the fifth round after a vicious body punch.
Now, Xiong moved down 10 pounds in this fight in order to beat Lee at atomweight in her bid to become a double champ. For the first two rounds, things were going Xiong’s way as she was winning the striking battle and preventing takedowns. The momentum changed in the third round when Lee was able to hip toss Xiong and commenced to throwing punches to Xiong’s head while in a headlock.
Xiong was able to survive the round and came back in the fourth by knocking down Lee with a punch followed by a kick to the chest. Despite being behind in the fight, Lee was able to suplex Xiong and quickly jumped on her back to secure the rear naked choke in order to retain her belt.
Enjoy the sport, I will stick with the football games. 🙂
Football is finally starting to get interesting now.
It was just a lucky strike that Angela Lee got a takedown and an eventual choke for a tapout finish.
That suplex was not luck. Do not blaspheme the skill of Angela Lee.
