The Cincinnati Bengals decided to do sort of a rebuild by bringing in new coach Zac Taylor. Having ten NFL Draft picks will help with turning over the roster after a losing season.
The Bengals will have a revamped offensive line with Williams and Jordan. Cincinnati desperately needed a left tackle, and Williams should start right away at the position. Jordan will add interior depth to the offensive line. Sample has the size and the strength to become a great TE. His blocking skills will help right away as the roster is filled with receiving tight ends.
Next, the Bengals needed to add youth to the linebacking corps. Pratt and Davis will vie for playing time on the outside and on the inside respectively. Wren will add interior defensive line depth.
Finley will be able to develop as the 3rd QB behind Andy Dalton and Jeff Driskel. He will also need to add 15-20 pounds so that he will be able to absorb hits better. Grabbing both Williams and Anderson in the 6th round at running back is an absolute steal. Williams is a versatile back that will be able to make plays as the 3rd down back. Anderson suffered leg injuries during college, but should be given a year to recuperate. Anderson would have been a 1st round pick if it wasn’t for the injuries.
Brown will add some depth in the secondary. He is strong enough to play up on receivers and to help out against the run.
Grade: The Bengals had a pretty smart draft. I give them a B+.
