It should come as no surprise to anyone by now, considering the number of times I’ve shared the view, that I honestly believe that the view from Apgar Mountain in Glacier National Park is one of the most breathtaking views in Montana. That is saying a lot since Montana is a beautiful state.
Glaciers formed the park and continue to do so. The rugged beauty is phenomenal. I understand that many people may not be able to visit Glacier in the spring, at least not now. So I have a treat if you have about 11 minutes of your time to spare.
Here is a YouTube video of Glacier in the spring. This is part of a series of videos from About Amazing Places on Our Planet. This video does a great job of capturing a lot of beauty. There are many images of Lake McDonald, which Apgar Mountain overlooks, as well as many other lakes and a few waterfalls. There are also images of wildlife, from hoary marmots to mountain goats to bighorn sheep.
This is one of the best ways to experience the park if you can’t do so in person, at least briefly, though the smells and sounds of the adventure are lacking. For people who are undecided in regard to whether they actually want to visit the park, if this video doesn’t instill a desire to see it for themselves, it is probable that nothing will. Sit back and enjoy.
If nature were not so beautiful, it would not have been declared a National park. Thank you for sending.
The video also gives a great notion of the size of the peaks that are shown. Seeing people walking up a mountain trail, looking to be the size of ants compared to the mountains, gives an appreciation for the ruggedness and size of the mountains. I also rather like the views of the ice lakes, looking like regular lakes, except that they are frozen over.
Wow. The video is amazing Rex. I love the pictures and I love anytime you post images from the park!!!!!
Thank you. I’m always enthralled when I come across something like this. It’s interesting that many people have an impression that this is what all of Montana looks like. There is a lot more to Montana than that, just as the common impression of Arizona is towering saguaro cactus, though not all of Arizona has that kind of cactus and a lot of it is actually forested.
Eastern Montana is mostly prairies and there is a lot of low land in the state.
But y’all have buffalo that eat dinner in your house right 😉
I have spent a little time in Montana, not much. But it is from what i’ve seen and from your pictures amazing!
Yep, buffalos and grizzly bears. LOL
I’m glad that you enjoy the images. I do, too. Even where I live, in the northwest part of the state about 100 miles west of Glacier, it is often breathtaking.
I think that is one of only three national parks still on my list that I haven’t been to yet.
