What do sunsets symbolize? The completion of a day’s work and marking clearly, passaging time. As the sun sets, it is time to take a break and end the day. The incredible beauty of the setting sun is also symbolic of the beauty and mystery of this thing called life itself. As the sun sets, light fades, which is symbolic of the ever present forces of darkness ensuing the light.
