This is a Punga tree. We were sitting in a cafe drinking coffee at Titirangi, West Auckland, and outside is this amazing New Zealand bush.
I thought I would share it with you.
In some older places of the world every square inch of the land has someone dictate what it should be, how big it is and arranges it to suit them.
So in many places in the world, nature is itself, not something some one else decides it to be.
Thanks Albert, it seems there is this plant in other countries as well. I believe that the Maori eat the young shoots or something of this plant.
From what I’ve heard of the Maori, they’d eat the adult tree. Whole.

In Indonesia, the plant is called King Pakis, it is very beautiful to be in its own habitat although it is also widely planted in the gardens. Your thought awakens our minds all, Pamela.

The colors are not in dark red as velvet. I used to shoot a very beautiful one here in Torrevieja Spain.
