Eurasian nuthatch.
Spread across the country but associated with forest habitats of different types.
Numerous species, with the number being estimated at 100,000-300,000 pairs.
It nests in tree hollows, formed naturally or carved by woodpeckers.
It has its name for interesting behavior: after choosing the hollow, it narrows its opening, if necessary, by “mistling” it with mud and saliva.
It is also capable of expanding and shaping the interior of the hollow alone.
This bird was shot in one of the parks of Sofia.
Such gorgeous captures!
