Sybil had DID

Having a degree in Social Science, I have always been interesting in reading psychological novels as well as psychological movies. I remember watching this movie, Sybil, in the 70s, when I was a kid, and I thought it was very disturbing because of all the traumatic abuse that Sybil or Shirley Mason went through, which gave her Multiple Personality Disorder, in which Sybil or Shirley Mason had 16 personalities. It sounds like she had Dissociative Identity Disorder; this video states that they now refer to multiple personalities as DID.

In high school, I read Flowers in the Attic and the books that came after it, as well as I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and Mommie Dearest.  I was thinking about reading the book about Sybil, but the movie was so disturbing that I wasn’t sure if I was ready for the book. Books are usually more detailed than the movie. The play Equus is also about mental illness.
