LJUBLJANA Historians do not agree when it comes to names  Ljubljana. Source, say some experts, is in a word, beloved, others believe it’s the old deity Laburus, others claim that the word came from the Latin word for river floods, aluviana. Some, however, think that comes from the German Laubach – lukewarm stream. The name, Ljubljana 1144. mentioned (as Laibach) and 1146 (Luwigana). In 1220 received the status of the city, and today is one of the most beautiful capitals of the European Union and holds the title of “green capital”.
